Student Advisory Council
The Student Advisory Council comprises an elite group of students who are seeking greater opportunities to assume leadership positions in Council programs as well more direct involvement in global community projects. Students who are interested in sitting on the Council’s Student Advisory Council must complete an application. Preference for leadership roles will go to juniors and seniors who have previously participated in a Council program, but we encourage freshman and sophomores to apply as well.
This year's Student Advisory Council is pursuing a new direction in global citizenship education, one that will offer students the opportunity to directly and substantively engage with the international community. In collaboration with New Global Citizens, a nonprofit whose focus is international youth engagement, SAC activities will center on one transnational issue selected by the students. Using established philanthropic initiatives as a guide, students will identify a specific humanitarian cause related to that issue and then develop a four-pronged business plan that will include: (1) fundraising, (2) advocacy, (3) public education and 4) a potential international service trip.
We are now accepting applications for the 2011-2012 Student Advisory Council. Download the SAC application here and email your finished copy to Kayla at khaidara@wacphila.org, mail it to the address listed below.
