Programs for Teachers
Our long-standing relationships with local educators contribute greatly to the enormous success of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia's education programs. Over the years, we have offered a number of workshops, fellowships and other programs specifically geared towards educating primary and secondary school teachers on issues of cultural, political and international significance. We work closely with community cultural organizations and local universities to provide the most comprehensive, educationally stimulating and engaging teacher programs available.
Okumus/ TAFSUS Turkey Fellowship Program
Through the generosity of the Okumus Family and the Turkish American Friendship Society of the United States (TAFSUS), the Council has awarded partial fellowships to over fifty teachers over the past eight summers to travel to Turkey. Upon acceptance into the program, fellows attend preparatory and follow-up sessions at the Council in conjunction with the trip. Click here for the 2012 Turkey Fellowship application.
We are now accepting applications. Deadline for submissions is March 30, 2012
