When does my membership become effective?
Your membership and all of its benefits will commence as soon as the Council receives your payment. You can expect to receive a membership welcome packet within 2 weeks of payment receipt. The Council does not issue membership cards; your membership information is kept in our database and is verified by Membership staff when you register for programs at the member price.
When does my membership expire?
Memberships to the Council are valid for one full year.
Is my membership tax deductible?
Yes, your membership dues directly support our Global Leadership programs for middle school and high school programs, so all membership contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Do I need to register for programs in advance if I am a member?
We recommend that you register in advance for all programs to ensure admittance.
Do I need to pay for programs if I am a member?
Each membership level receives different benefits to programs.
In General Membership, members receive Lecture Passes for complimentary admission to the lecture portion of select programs and are entitled to member-priced admission to all programs.
- Members at the Individual level receive one (1) Lecture Pass and member-priced admission for one (1) person.
- Members at the Dual level receive two (2) Lecture Passes and member-priced admission for two (2) people.
- Members at the Dual Plus level receive (3) Lecture Passes and member-priced admission for two (2) people.
What is the Council’s home venue?
The Council’s home venue is our new conference room overlooking Broad Street, at One South Broad Street, Suite 2M, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
What are Lecture Passes?
Lecture Passes are a benefit of membership with the Council. These passes are included in the membership packets at the Individual through Dual Plus levels. They provide complimentary admission to the lecture portion of programs. Each lecture includes a Q&A session open to all attendees. Lecture Passes may not be applied toward the payment of a meal or reception.
When can I use my Lecture Passes?
Lecture Passes are available for select programs (usually those held at the Council’s home venue) and are subject to availability. Passes must be mailed to the office in advance of the program to guarantee reservation. The Lecture Pass provides complimentary admission to the lecture portion of the program only.
What is the Young Professionals group?
The Young Professionals of the World Affairs Council are a diverse group of individuals between the ages of 21 and 35 with an appreciation for international affairs and cultures, world travel, and global education. There is no cost to be part of the Young Professionals group. Council members of all levels, graduate students, and the general public are all eligible to participate.
